WEG: Rodrigo Pessoa out of the World Championship in Aachen

With an injury the horse Baloubet du Rouet will not be able to participate in the competition. After a meeting with the veterinarian of the Brazilian Team, Dr. Thomaz Montello and with the horse’s veterinarian Dr. Marc Sulz, Rodrigo took the decision not to participate in the World Championship:

“Unfortunately I would be risking the physical integrity of Balubet if I tried to enter him into the competition. The World Championship is very tough, five days of very difficult rounds and would be risking the end of Baloubet’s career. For everything he has done for the equestrian sport and for me and based on the opinion of the veterinarians, I was obliged to leave the Brazilian Team in WEG. I am very sad but sure that it was the correct decision”. Said Rodrigo.

With regard to the possibility of participating with another horse, the rider, who was the World Champion in Rome in the year 1998 with the horse Gandini Lianos, said the following:

“The World Championship starts on the 28th of August with the adaptation round that is in three days time. To prepare another horse for this Championship only three days from the beginning of the competition would certainly produce poor results and put at risk the horse’s future. In my career I always tried to do things in a correct manner and going after the best results. Apart from not being able to help the Brazilian Team under these conditions I would be putting another horse at risk in a competition like this one. I can only now help the Brazilian Team riders and hope they go well”, said Rodrigo.
