Each year during the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning the Spring Auction causes congestion in the grand stands Saturday afternoon.
This year's exciting collection of young horses of exceptional quality is expected to attract audience as well as buyers
Chairman of the auction committee, Ulrik Kristensen, is very pleased with the high standard of the horses coming under the hammer at this year's Spring Auction. Fewer foals have been born as from 2009, and seen in this light, he believes that the Spring Auction has been favoured with horses of very good quality.
The collection consists of eighteen colts, three of which are bred for jumping and fifteen for dressage. There are several good stallion prospect, and in particular a number of very promising young dressage stallions. Also offered at the auction are two 5-year-old jumping horses, five 5-year-old dressage horses and one 6-year-old dressage horse.
All the horses have approved x-rays and clinical examination. Interested buyers can inspect the auction horses prior to the auction where they will be shown in lunge lines. It is often the case that the young stallions are shown under rider during the Spring Auction which also provides a great opportunity to assess their rideability.
Two medal awarded mares at auction
Among the auction horses are several very promising dressage horses with the potential to take part in the selections for the world championships for young horses. One of them is the mare Stenagers Welina by Wilkens / Sandro Hit who represents an exciting and very up-to-date dam line. Her full sister is the dam of the most expensive foal at the 2013 DWB Elite Foal Auction.
The collection also counts bronze medal mare Svalegårds Terra by Tailormade Temptation / Stedinger and silver medal mare Dam's Dustaire by Blue Hors Zack / De Noir, both of which are qualified for the Young Horse Championship in Herning. Among the jumping horses are two very rideable 5-year-olds with good potential.
