Sir Sansibar – Trakehner Champion Stallion 2014

The dark bay Sir Sansibar, by Millennium and out of Susaya (by Cadeau), is the Champion Stallion of the 52nd Trakehner Stallion Market in Neumuenster. Sir Sansibar was bred by the Hohenschmark Stud and crowned what has already been a highly successful year for the owner, Norbert Timm. The breeder's emotions were at an absolute extreme: “Honestly, I was crying for joy. All the pressure that's built up is released”, explained Timm. In September Timm already celebrated a great success with his self-bred Trakehner mare Zikade when she won the Federal Young Horse Championship for 4 year old Riding Horses.

“Superior and confident at all times with an excellent impression, swinging gaits and always uphill”, attested the Chairman of the Approval Committee and Head of Breeding for the Trakehner Association, Lars Gehrmann, over this year's Champion Stallion. “He is constantly in tact, perfectly straight and talented in free jumping. In Susuya he also has Schleswig-Holstein's Champion Mare as his dam.” The Champion Stallion was also well received by the spectators who had given the Millennium offspring applause over and over again throughout the days of the approvals. Norbert Timm wishes the stallion, who belongs to the auction lot, “good and sport producing hands”. “I would love to keep all my horses, but a stud farm must meet financial needs as well. You also have to sell,” smiled the breeder of the Champion Stallion.

The Commission announced the light bay Trakehner stallion High Motion, by Saint Syr and out of Hanna VII (by Summertime), as the Reserve Champion. Louise Bredemeier from Petershagen, North Rhine-Westphalia is the breeder of the stallion and the owner is the High Motion Consortium in Schaepiltz (GER). “A very attractive stallion with the best ground covering walk and canter, a constantly active hind leg and who is always showing elasticity through his body in his movements,” summed up Lars Gehrmann for the Approval Committee's verdict. High Motion's grand dam Helena is also the mother of the important Trakehner stallion Hohenstein.

Three further impressive stallions received the Premium title: The chestnut Davidas, bred by the American Margaret McGregor, received the title of Best Jumping Stallion of the Approvals 2014. “Davidas, by Horalas-Abdullah, is a sporty stallion with great scope. He received the top score in free jumping and is a gift for German Trakehner breeding”, is how Gehrmann formulated it. Davidas was unchallenged and superior in free jumping.

Niagara, by Kentucky out of Nigeria (by Wiec), impressed with his light footedness and looseness. The stylish black stallion was bred by Marek Przeczewski in Poland. “He is a successful example of good combining of German and Polish bloodlines,” said Gehrmann. Niagara belongs to the Mythos Trakehner Consortium.

Octavian also received Premium recognition and with that a second offspring of Millennium, the 2nd Reserve Champion of the Trakehner Approvals 2010, who presented an extremely strong group of stallions in Neumuenster this year. Octavian is out of Ode II, by Hohenstein, and is bred and owned by the Radegast Stud in Saxony-Anhalt. Lars Gehrmann: “A raw diamond and youngling with a constantly busy and active hind leg, distinguished with a secure and unwavering walk that improved from day to day. The dam, Ode II, was placed herself in Cl. M dressage competitions.”

The best half-blood stallion found himself under the further 11 approved stallions at the Trakehner Stallion Market: Le Chevalier is sired by the English Thoroughbred Cavallieri xx and is out of Laconda, by Vespucci. The stylish chestnut stallion is bred and owned by Klaus-Dieter Markgraf and his co-owner Christine Achtmann. Both are from Crivitz in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
