Rolf Goran-Bengtsson claims the Global in Amsterdam

Rolf Goran-Bengtsson from Sweden and Casall La Silla captured the win in the $285,000 Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Germany on Saturday 4th June, 2011.

Of the top FEI ranked riders who were accepted to ride in this elite world-wide series only 4 horses cleanly negotiated the Frank Rothenberger (GER) designed course in the first round including two Germans in Ludger Beerbaum (Chaman) and Janne Friederike Meyer (Cellagon Lambrrasco).

They were joined by Swedish rider Rolf-Goran Bengtsson (Casall La Silla) – picured below-and winners of the first Global Champions Tour in Doha, Brazilian Alvaro de Miranda Neto with AD Ashleigh Drossel Dan.

Reverse order of the best 18 jumped the second round with three double clears heading to jump-off for the title and the chance to take home a large prize cheque and a highly prized Jaeger-LeCoultre specially engrave Reverso watch.

Ludger went first on Chaman and set the pace with a clear round in a time of 47.93 seconds and a lucky chance at the Mussimo Dutti vertical.

The quiet man Rolf Goran Bengtsson completed a smooth and clear round over the 9 obstacle jump-off track, to be home in a time of 46.97.

The last to go German Janne Friederike Meyer was spurred on by her home crowd with speed not an issue for Cellegon Lambrasco. With two fences down by the fifth fence Janne elected to stop knowing that she had already secured 3rd place.

The win in the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Germany gave Rolf a jump up the GCT rankings placing them firmly in 7th place. It is Alvaro de Miranda Neto from Brazil who has remained in top billing on the GCT Rankings since the first leg of the 2011 series.

Rolf-Goran Bengtsson, winner of the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Germany, was presented with a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch by the company’s German Representative Claudio Menz.

This year Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrate their 80th anniversary of the Reverso timepiece and in recognition are presenting specially GCT engraved watches to the winning riders.
