The Pappas Amadeus Horse Indoors in Salzburg (Austria) starts today. The busy schedule offers dressage, show jumping and vaulting competitions. German Lars Nieberg, British Robert Smith, Dutch Eric van der Vleuten and dressage queen Anky van Grunsven from the Netherlands will compete riding her Salinero.
Between 1988 and 2008 Anky van Grunsven particpated six times at Olympic Games. In 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and in 2008 she won the silver medal with the Dutch dressage equipe. In 1996, she won the individual silver medal and became Olympic champion in 2000, 2004 and 2008.
With the Dutch team she ranked second at the World Equestrian Games in 1994, 1998 and 2006. In 1994 she won the gold medal followed by the individual silver medal in 1998. In 2006, the silver medal in the Grand Prix Spécial followed.
Anky also acts as trainer for a great number of successful dressage riders worldwide. A few years ago she started a new discipline: Western riding. It was within a very short time that she reached the top of the Dutch Western riders..
After Salinero’s injury Anky returned to the international dressage scene at the CDI5* Falsterbo, Sweden past July. In order to qualify for next year’s Olympic Games in London, Anky chose the CDI4* Salzburg, Austria.
