Matthias Rath and Totilas win the Grand Prix in Munich

This year’s ‘Pferd International’ horse show in Munich, Germany had a special surprise for the visitors: the first competition for Totilas and Matthias Alexander Rath. The first performance was up to the expectations. The new pair won the FEI Grand Prix with a solid result of 76,787%.

Runner-up was Carola Koppermann with Le Bo (69,234%) followed by Nadine Capellmann with Girasol (68,766%). British Emma Hindle and her mount Brisbane ranked fourth (68,596%) and Austrian Victoria Max Theurer and Eichendorff fifth (68,404%).

According to the 26-year-old German dressage champion Matthias Alexander Rath, Totilas knew exactly when to give his best. The moment he took off his bandages before entering the dressage arena, it was like flipping a switch.

Around 8.000 visitors assembled around the dressage arena watching a solid performance with highlights and no major big mistakes. Only the fine-tuning left room for improvement, which is normal for a first competition of a new horse/rider combination. The pair did not have to compete against the big names of dressage riders. Isabell Werth, Patrik Kittel, Ulla Salzgeber, Victoria Max-Theurer and Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein with Digby will participate in the five star Grand Prix taking place on Friday.
