Marion Hughes wins Vilamoura Grand Prix

Ireland's Marion Hughes not only claimed victory in the Grand Prix at Vilamoura, Portugal today (Sunday) but also took sixth place for good measure.

The Kilkenny-born former Olympian nudged Emelie Bjorkman's 'Good Lucky Girl' over the line just fractions of a second ahead of the Ukraine's Gregory Whatelet to take the winner's laurels, and also rode her partner Miguel Maria Bravo's Irish-bred 'HHS Cheiro' into sixth place, both horses recording double clear rounds.

Hughes also had a win at the Portuguese venue on Saturday with 'Good Lucky Girl' in the two-phase competition.
