Julia Dallamano winner of the Grand Prix for Juniors

With only one victory yesterday under rain, France was waiting for an eventual success in a big class. French team finally caught up the 2 Grand Prix thanks to Hugo Breul in juniors and Julia Dallamano in young riders.

This last day of competition started at 9:30am with the Grand Prix Juniors TTR Automobile Toyota, hopefully under sun and on a very good ground which absorbs all the water fallen on Saturday.

68 riders started and 9 qualified for the jump-off: Matthew Sampson (GBR), Mickey Seaquist (ESP), Lennart van Vlaenderen (BEL) and six French. 16 year old Norman boy Hugo Breul (Robert Breul’s son) was the only one to realize a double clear round. After a double clear in the Nations Cup on Friday, he seems to become an important part of the French junior team. English Matthew Sampson finished with the best time but with one fault (2nd).

Hugo Breul claimed the Grand Prix for Young Riders – 1st June

The Grand Prix for young riders started at 2:30pm in front of thousands of spectators. The course designed by Jean-Paul Lepetit showed that the level was much higher with a final vertical at 1m50. Two riders finished without any penalties on fences but with one time penalty point. Kris Seaquist (ESP) and Julia Dallamano (FRA) had to go to a jump-off in which the French junior rider (she was overranked this weekend thanks to her good results since beginning of the year) realized the best time. She offers the second victory in a row to France.

Irish Mark Flynn claimed the Small Grand Prix – 31st May

After a very sunny Friday, the rain came down on Reims on Saturday. Hopefully, the ground remained good and practicable. But riders had some difficulties to concentrate on the courses designed by Jean-Paul Lepetit.

Three classes took place on Saturday 31st. N°9 and 10 were progressive difficulties with joker.

We heard the French and Croatian hymns for the very first time this year in Reims thanks to Margaux Rocuet (junior) and Mélanie Cloarec (young riders). The big class consisted of a Small Grand Prix open both to junior and young riders. Only 93 of 114 entries finally started, and only 9 qualified for the jump-off (6 juniors and 3 young riders). They all competed on the same course composed of 7 fences. Irish Mark Flynn, 7th to go, managed the only clear round riding Highlander.

The Waterford County born rider beat two French girls, Elise Lesage and Lisa Kircher respectively 2nd and 3rd.
