Impressive Cart Horse Show at the CHIO Aachen 2010

“The heavy brigade is on its way” – a mare and stallion parade as well as a comprehensive show programme at the 1st NRW Cart Horse Day.

As the saying goes fat people (or as the case may be animals) are good natured. This applies also and above all for horses: Cart horses, the heavy working horses, are highly appreciated for their extremely friendly temperament as well as for their strength and impressive build. This was reason enough for the organisers of the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen, to invite everyone to the “1st NRW Cart Horse Day”.

Around 70 heavy cart horses as well as carriages and working teams are expected at the Soers from 11.30 a.m. onwards on Friday, July 16th, 2010 under the motto “The heavy brigade is on its way”. The spectators can look forward to an interesting breeding and show programme, which the ALRV is organising jointly with the North Rhine-Westphalian cart horse breeders.

The cart horse breeding sector will also be giving an impressive performance. There will be a stallion and mare parade in the driving stadium, which will comprise of the best Rhineland and Westphalian-bred cart horses (including also the prize-giving ceremony of the 2010 NRW winning mare). After the show-jumpers’ RWE Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia in the main stadium, the winning mare will be presented and awarded her prize in the big stadium.

Previous to this, wonderful scenes can be experienced in the driving stadium late in the morning: Working teams from the city and the country will be presented as well as impressive four-in-hand and even ten-in-hand teams. Cart horse dressage will be demonstrated and the strong horses will also be performing a quadrille. “We are looking forward to a magnificent programme for the whole family, cart horses are impressive animals with top characters,” commented Frank Kemperman, Chairman of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), the organisers of the CHIO.
