Hong Kong Will Host Leg of World Cup in 2012

Even if the number of riders practicing equitation worldwide is not so large compared to other sports, the show jumping discipline becomes more and more popular in China.

Therefore, a new Chinese leg of the FEI World Cup is scheduled for 2012. This will be the first FEI jumping competition taking place in China.

According to Michael John Sullivan from China National Sports International the Chinese buy more and more jumping horses in Europe to be able to compete at high level jumping events. Furthermore, three CSI* events are planned in China this year to be held in August, September and October. The locations of the events have not yet been decided.

For March 2012, the CSI5*Hong Kong Masters is planned, a show jumping event organized by European Equestrian Masters. The show organizer hopes that the 30 best riders of the world will participate in Hong Kong competing for prize money of one million dollars.
