Hanoverian Foals Delighted International Customers

147 foals were put up for auction at the 40th Elite Foal and Broodmare Auction in Verden on August, 16.

The eagerly moving Fly by Bundeschampion Franziskus became top-priced youngster, sold at Euro 32,000. Other customers invested Euro 31,000 in his half brother Freak Blue.

The 40th Elite Foal and Broodmare Auction started with the current Federal Champion Franziskus and his rider, team Olympic Champion Ingrid Klimke. The riding master presented the six-year-old stallion in awesome style – only a couple of days ago, he had participated at the FEI World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses. Klosterhof Medingen purchased the highest-priced horse Fly by Franziskus/Contendro (breeder and exhibitor: Rita and Otto Sölzer, Fritzlar-Werkel). The typey black-brown colt had already attracted expert eyes before as the young sports horse finished third at the German Foal Championships in Lienen. Freak Blue was almost as expensive as Fly: The young athlete by Franziskus out of a Sorento-dam (breeder and exhibitor: Stefan Herrmann, Northeim-Imbshausen) was sold to Lower Saxony at Euro 31,000.

Most expensive show jumping foal was Locke Lordanos by Lordanos/Goldfever (breeder and exhibitor: Ernst Stahlhut, Stadthagen). The youngster found new owners in France at Euro 17,000. “I am happy that particularly show jumping breeders enriched the collection with interesting, international breeding combinations,” Breeding Manager Dr. Werner Schade explained. Euro 8,368 was the average auction sales price for the foals, almost Euro 2,000 more than last year. 48 foals were purchased by foreign customers, the US lead the statistics with seven purchases, followed by the Netherlands with six foals and each five foals sold to Greece, Italy and Russia.
