Guy Williams Wins Masters in Mechelen

British show jumper Guy Williams and his 8-year-old mount Depardieu Kiezelhof experience a very successful end of this year. Last week the pair won the Masters in London at the Olympia horse show and yesterday they won the Masters in Mechelen, Belgium. Guy Williams had the fastest clear round and left Ludo Philippaerts with Chicago Moleneind behind.

Guy Williams was also one of the best riders during the last CSI4* Liège in November with a first, second and fourth place.

With the victory of the Masters in Mechelen Guy William wins a brilliant British Land Rover.

ERIKA LICKHAMMER QUEEN OF MECHELEN

Sixteen lady riders, of the 34 starters, qualified for the jump off in the Queens Cup, so it was necessary to go very fast to earn some money. Victory went to the Swedish Erika Lickhammer on Blast Off. The 29 yr old girl was riding the 11 yr old KWPN geldingonly for a few weeks but knew she could go fast. Erika : “Blast off is a very fast horse, that’s why I chose him for the Queens Cup. As usual a lot of combinations where qualified for the jump off in this class and you need a fast horse to win. I love to ride in Mechelen, it’s a super show with a very special atmosphere. It makes me think of Göteborg where the public is also very enthusiastic. For a girl it’s special to win the Queens Cup. This year I participate in the two stars show because all my horses where sold this summer and I’m building up a new team.”
