The Sunshine Dressage Tour 2012 came to an end. Portuguese Gonçalo Carvalho sealed his brilliant participation this week with a deserved victory at the big final.
Now, after a week off, Montenmedio will reopen its doors to Jumping competition.
The final day of Sunshine Dressage Tour started with 13 pairs taking part in the Intermediate Kur Grand Prix. As it was expected there was a close battle between Belgian Philippe Jorisen and French Jessica Michel. Belgian Jorisen won finally the championship with her young horse Rheilander “Agneta 17″, while French rider Jessica Michel, scoring just three-tenths less than the winner, finished second with ‘Daimler de Hus’. Collins was third in a remarkable performance with “Alpha”. And Madrid rider Laura Reija was the best of the home riders finishing in a fourth place with “Recuerdo’’
Then, it was time for the most awaited dressage event of the Sunshine Tour 2012, the “Kür Invitational”. First Spanish riders on the track were not at their best and none of them scored over 68. However, the last five pairs raised the level significantly. Portuguese Gonçalo Carvalho and his horse “Rubi” confirmed their good shape this second week getting the title on the final day. The Portuguese pair scored an impressive 77.65 to sweep to victory. French Jessica Michel finished second with “Riwera de Hus” just one point behind the winner, and confirmed this pair is called to great things.
Jose Daniel Martin Dockx with “Grandioso” and Ignacio Rambla with “Fogonero IX” had a good performance and were the best home riders.
After Ponies, Junior and YR tests; the organization proceeded to the awards ceremony that closed an exciting fourteenth edition of Sunshine Dressage Tour 2012.
