The 19-year-old stallion ‘Goldfever’ (Grosso Z x Galvano) was honoured ‘Hanoverian stallion of the year’ on the occasion of the stallion licensing in Verden. His breeder Sigurd Hochmuth from Meerbeck, Germany received a precious statuette and a cheque from the President Manfred Schäfer. The R+V/Vereinigte Tierversicherung honours a famous Hanoverian stallion every year.
With his rider Ludger Beerbaum Goldfever became one of the most successful jumping horses ever. He has earned a total prize money of about two million Euros throughout his career. Ludger and Goldfever participated at two Olympic Games, became team Olympic champion 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens, European team Champion in
Donaueschingen in 2003 as well as German Champion in 2000 and 2001. The only title the horse/rider combination did not manage to win is the one of the individual world champion. 2009 Goldfever retired from the international sport and was given a hearty good-bye in the Soers of Aachen.
For a short while Goldfever was an active breeding stallion. From 74 foals 36 are registered as competition horses at the FN (National Federation of Germany). Five of his offspring were successful at international jumping competitions.
The most famous are his daughter Gotha (now nine years) and the 11-year-old Goldwing. Goldwing had been third in the first jumping competition at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
