Flynn Triumphant in Dublin Grand Prix

Commandant Gerry Flynn capped a very successful Dublin Horse Show for the Irish Army Equitation School when he emerged triumphant at today's (Sunday) Longines Grand Prix, the event's premier individual competition.

One of only two riders to achieve a double clear round from a top international field of 33 starters, Longford-born Flynn rode the Irish-bred Cruising mare 'Mo Chroi' into the nine-horse jump-off, where he was second to go, setting what proved to be an unbeatable time of 55.93. Flynn claimed 41,000€ in prize money.

The prize fund at Dublin is €125,000 making it one of Europe's richest Grand Prix.

Only the Netherlands' Ben Schroder managed a clear jump-off round, but finished almost a second behind the 42 year-old Irish rider.

Next year’s Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show will take place from August 6 – 10, 2008.
