Fiontini and Sezuan are headlines in Verden

After the two qualifications at the FEI/WBFSH World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany, Danish Warmblood horses are in the lead of both age divisions.

The two winners, Fiontini and Sezuan, have a well-kept secret – together!

Two Danish horses are currently making the headlines at the FEI/WBFSH World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany, as the winners of each qualification for the finals this weekend. The bay mare Fiontini won the qualification for 5-year-olds Thursday, and the black stallion Sezuan won the qualification for 6-year-olds Friday.

A filly with champion parents

The two full sisters, Fiontina and Fiontini have both made the cut for the finals at the world championships for 5-year-old dressage horses on Saturday, 8 August, 2015. The two highly decorated Danish Warmblood mares by Fassbinder x Romanov (Blue Hors/Glock) are bred by Hanne Lund and Henrik Hansen, and are both the result of embryo transfer (ET). They are not twins but full sisters flushed from two different pregnancies and born 2½ months apart.

Fiontini first made the headlines when she became the Blue Hors Young Horse Champion at the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing in Herning in March this year where the reigning World Cup Champion, European Champion, Olympic Champion and World Champion Charlotte Dujardin was the test rider and completely fell in love with Fiontini. She gave her 10 for capacity as well as rideability.

Both Fiontina and Fiontini had a foal the natural way last year when they were 4-years old. Fiontini gave birth to a dark bay filly foal by Sezuan, named Souvenir. She is now a very promising yearling filly whose sire Sezuan became a world champion last year, and this weekend he may reclaim the coveted title. Her dam Fiontini also has a fair chance to claim the world champion title this weekend. So far, Souvenir has been a well-kept secret with exceptional genetics.
