Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel presents special stamps

“This year we are looking forward to two very special events.” The Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel welcomed representatives of the Equestrian and Football World Championships at the Chancellor’s Office on Wednesday. Together with Federal Ministers Peer Steinbrück and Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble, she presented the special edition stamps “In support of sport 2006”.

The Chancellor handed over the special stamps to celebrate the FEI World Equestrian Games to Klaus Pavel, President of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. and Michael Mronz, member and spokesman of the OC of the WEG Aachen 2006, who furthermore both took this opportunity to interchange with their FIFA World Cup colleagues, Dr. Theo Zwanziger and Franz Beckenbauer.

The stamps are so-called “surtax stamps“ and the additional revenue will be donated to the Deutsche Sporthilfe Foundation.
