The planning of this year’s Cannes edition was unlucky for the Dutch as the Dutch National Championships are held at the same date at the Outdoor Gelderland Horseshow at the border of the Middachten Castle in De Steeg near Arnhem. This means that the Dutch Equestrian Federation does not allow showing in another show, so no Dutch competitors entered the show in Cannes. This year’s National Championship dressage has a very special rule.
Due to the important CHIO Rotterdam scheduled immediately after the NC and the Outdoor Gelderland Horseshow, some measures have been taken to reduce the work load for the horses.
All riders of the A and B-cadre who decided to ride the NC, are immediately selected for the second test Grand Prix Special, while all other riders had to qualify through the Grand Prix of today. The Dutch Grand Prix title by exception will be decided over the Grand Prix Special and the Freestyle only.
Yesterday's Grand Prix was won by Edward Gal showing Gribaldi-daughter Sisther de Jeu (74,426%), leaving both the runner up position and place three to Marlies van Baalen riding BMC OJay (72,255%) and BMC Phoebe (70,383%).
