Delany Champion Dressage Mare at Verden

Relaxed, impressive and satisfied – this is how the 66 three-year-old mares showed up at the Herwart von der Decken-Show.

The typey Desperados-daughter Delany became Champion dressage mare. State premium candidate Delany by Desperados/Lauries Crusador xx (breeder and owner: Wilhelm Schwierking, Barver) delighted audience and judges during each presentation. The National German Dressage Coach Holger Schmezer who judged the mares together with breeding manager Dr. Werner Schade and the member of the board, Hartmut Wilking, was full of praise: “This mare always maintained the rhythm, she displayed eager and relaxed movements. I would like to see her again in sport.”

The sire of success, Desperados, already made a name for himself at the Medien Cup and at the German Dressage Derby in Hamburg. The jury proclaimed a daughter by another successful sport stallion Reserve Champion: the extraordinary trot of the Londontime/Wolkentanz-daughter, state premium candidate Lady Dance (breeder: Monika Rösemeier-Harms, Großefehn – owner: Monika Ahlers, Grethem), was much applauded by the audience.

State premium candidate Cecile by Contendro I/Sandro (breeder: Sabine and Dr. Hilmer Meyer- Kulenkampff, Engeln – owner: Dr. Hilmer Meyer-Kulenkampff, Engeln) was nominated Champion in the division of show jumping mares. The National Danish Coach Achaz von Buchwaldt belonged to the board of judges. The dark-brown, very typey three-year-old mare presented all her qualities during free jumping and presentation on the triangle. Breeding manager Dr. Werner Schade said: “Cecile was always full of power, expression and potential.”

State premium candidate Costa Rica (breeder and owner: Peter von der Fecht-Ehlers, Belum) became Reserve Champion. The C-bloodline was again dominating: The Comte/Grandeur-daughter captivated with her incredible style and fascinating potential over the fences.

The Celle state stud stallion Lauries Crusador xx dominated the division of halfbred mares. He is represented in the pedigrees of all eight mares. State premium candidate Larissa by Lauries Crusador xx/Weltmeyer (breeder and owner: Reinhard Braack, Drochtersen) was honoured with the oak wreath. The Reserve Champion Light my Fire (breeder: Manfred Dunkel, Oberndorf – owner: Kerstin Arnonis, Hamburg) convinced with the same outstanding pedigree: Lauries Crusador xx / Weltmeyer.

The Herwart von der Decken-Show counts among the equestrian highlights in the annual schedule of the Hannoveraner Verband. Approx. 2,000 breeders and interested horse enthusiasts came to watch the best three-year-old mares of the Hanoverian breed competing on the Championship arena. Dr. Werner Schade summarized: “The mares convinced as regards breeding and general equestrian qualities. It was a pleasure to watch the horses.”
