Amazing logistical operation as GCT rolls into Monaco

With excitement mounting ahead of the Global Champions Tour in Monte-Carlo, an amazing logistical operation gets underway tonight to create one of the most extraordinary show jumping events of the year.

A convoy of state-of-the-art, luxury trucks under police escort will drive through Monaco to the Port Hercule showground, where the equine superstars of show jumping will be carefully taken to their stabling alongside the world famous yacht harbour. Over 200 horses will be taking part in three days of top-level show jumping in the sixth leg of the GCT series 2012.

A well-orchestrated series of convoys will begin arriving in Monaco this evening with police ensuring the busy streets of the Principality are clear for the horse trucks to reach their destination at the beautiful port beneath the ramparts of the Prince’s Palace. After unloading the horses, teams of grooms will ensure they are fed, watered and made comfortable to ensure they are in top condition for the competitions ahead.

With welfare a top priority, FEI vets undertake inspections before the competition begins and a mobile vet clinic and specially-equipped trailer are always on hand in case any horse needs medical treatment.

Over the past few weeks since the Formula One circuit packed up and left Monaco, the area of Port Hercule has been transformed for the GCT show jumping spectacle. Stables have been built. A spectator tribune. Stunning VIP corporate hospitality loges have been constructed and interior designed. Chic boutiques in the commercial village have been built and the double deck riders club and hospitality area has been completed.
