3 Golden goals for the BMW Polo Masters Tour

Once again it was a neck and neck final that brought the last winter round of the BMW Polo Masters Tour 2014 to a close!

Following in the footsteps of Val d'Isère and Megève it was the extra chukker that forced the two teams to prove who was the best, led by Cyril Costes (hcp0) and Claude Solarz (hcp0).

Intensity right up to the last goal

Due to the incredible high-level performances despite the tough weather conditions, the teams Ski Bohême and Save the Rich fought a dual right up to the golden goal was scored by Ski Bohême, represented by Cyril Costes (hcp0), Brieuc Rigaux (hcp 5) and Thierry Vetpois (hcp 3).

Even though the fabulous duo Clémenet Delfosse (hcp 4) and Edouard Pan (hcp 4) of the Save the Rich team played with vigour and thrills keeping the public on the edge of their seats throughout the final hunkering after a victory, the winning goal was scored by Brieuc Rigaux (hcp 5) right at the start of the extra chukker giving victory to Ski Bohême with a final score of 7 goals to 6. This honoured him with the Best Player K2 Trophy. Claude Solarz (hcp 0) not being deemed unworthy received, not without humour, the trophy for Best Hopeful in Les Grandes Alpes.

Equal 3rd place

During the mini-final the teams BMW and Julian Joailliers/De Grisogono pitted themselves with tenacity in the fog to finally finish up together on the third step of the podium with an 8 goals to 8 score. By mutual agreement the AXA Entreprises Trophy was handed to the team captain of Julian Joailliers/De Grisogono, Laurent Dassault (hcp 0), a figurehead of the Polo Masters Tour for the last number of years.

The prestigious BMW Polo Masters Courchevel

Despite the snow during the finals it was under a radiant sun that the first two days of the event took place, offering the spectators who came on skis or by foot a fantastic show in this magnificent setting. The atmosphere was amazing on the immaculately groomed Altiport. The beauty of the exhibitors’ village combined with the brilliant DJ Aurore who came to do the mixing for Save the Rich, and the refined delicacies from Michelin Star awarded chefs such as Frédéric Vardon came to honour the Polo Masters Tour. It was during the luxurious evenings organised at the “Les Grandes Alpes” hotel and the “Tremplin” that the players and sponsors could share magical moments till the early hours of the morning.
