Calvados Z, the top horse of Christian Ahlmann died at Oslo Horse Show

Calvados Z, Christian Ahlmann’s nine-year old stallion died yesterday morning within minutes in his stall at the Oslo Horse Show.

Ahlmann had ridden Calvados Z on Friday and in the Rikstoto Grand Prix on Saturday. A few hours later Calvados Z became very nervous. The vet who came immediately could not help any more. The reason for the sudden death is not yet clear. It was speculated that a rupture of the aorta might have caused the death.

Upon Ahlmann’s request a postmortem will be made at the Olso University. Calvados Z (by Chellano Z x Carthago Z) was owned by Ahlmann’s sponsor Marion Jauss.
