The 18th International Festival of the Lusitano Horse

The International Festival for the Purebred Lusitano Horse is the most important show in Portugal for the Lusitano breed and will take place between the 14th and 17th June at Estoril's hippodrome, Manuel Possolo. The Festival includes in-hand classes for colts and fillies, mature mares with their foals, ridden breed classes, and performance classes including dressage, Portuguese equitation, and working equitation. The weekend also features equestrian displays – a wonderful array of performances by professional display teams including the bay Alter Real stallions of the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art. The Portuguese-bred Lusitano is the oldest saddled horse in the world, prized by the ancient Greeks and Romans, but versatile enough to compete in modern show-jumping, dressage and bull-fighting events.
