Madonna and her nightmares with horses…

Just a few months after her riding accident, indomitable Madonna is back in the saddle. And, never one to do things quietly, the singer chose David Letterman's Late Show for her first public appearance on a horse. The pop icon did admit to a spot of nerves as she took to the streets of New York on an elegant chestnut mount: “I have a bit of excitement tainted with fear,” she confided, before breaking into a broad smile when it was clear she was back in the swing of things. Madonna suffered three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand after a fall at her Wiltshire estate in August. Since then, the queen of pop has been keeping away from the equestrian life because “my record company is not very keen on the idea of me injuring myself.” Music bosses needn't have worried, however. With her hair in that new Farrah-Fawcett flick, and no helmet, the singer clearly wasn't planning on going hell for leather. Host David, himself a novice rider, had opted for a suit and tie, indicating he was not up a gallop either.
