Welcome to the team! GLOCK rider Gerco Schröder

He is regarded as one of the best riders in the world with an innate feel for horses and, following World and European Championship gold, his two silvers at the London 2012 Olympics made him the Netherlands’ show jumping hero.

As of today, Gerco Schröder is officially a GLOCK rider and is absolutely delighted. “The past few weeks have been very emotional for me. First I was so sad about having to say goodbye to London at the auction. Then the good news that Gaston and Kathrin GLOCK had bought London and I can continue riding him. And now, to top it all, I have been invited to join Team GLOCK: it is all simply incredible. I am unbelievably happy to be part of the team! It is a great honour for me.”

Listing the 36-year-old show jumper’s successes takes quite a while, as even early on in his career Gerco Schröder twice took gold at the European Championships for Young Riders and in addition to three golds and one silver at European Championships, now has a World Championship title and two silver medals at Olympic Games under his belt as well as countless Grand Prix and Global Champions Tour wins.

His most important partner as a GLOCK rider is the 12-year-old BWP stallion GLOCK’s London (Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin), but GLOCK rider Gerco Schröder also has a good young horse in the stables: “GLOCK’s Debalia is six years old and a great mount for the future,” says the Dutchman about the Numero Uno daughter.

The next event he is taking GLOCK’s London to is the Longines Global Champions Tour leg in Madrid (ESP) and then, after a two week break, the pair will be heading for the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Rome (ITA).
