On the 18th and 19th of February, the Saint-Lô Pôle Hippique is organising once more with the Stud-Book Selle Français,”L’Association Syndicale des Etalonniers Privés” (ASEP) and the “Organisation Normandie Poney” (ONP), the biggest horse and pony stallion show in France, and one of the largest in Europe…


The panel of stallions inscribed in 2017 confirms the huge expansion of the event over the last two editions. Besides the number, the exceptional quality of the stallions present will certainly present breeders with difficult choices…

The number 1s in the WBFSH rankings (the WorldBreeding Federation for Sport Horses, publish annual sire rankings from points obtained in international competition by their offspring, a true guarantee of performance): Diamant de Semilly SF, Selle Français original, the celebrated locally bred stallion from the Haras de Couvains, ranked n°1 show-jumping sire in both 2015 and 2016, Contendro I*GFE, for eventing, and also top ranked sire for the second consecutive year,(21st in show-jumping).

Note the presence of other WBFSH ranked sires, Balou duRouet*GFE (7th for show-jumping and 28th for eventing), Canturo* Bois Margot (38th), followed by two stallions presented by the Ibreed Agency : Malito de Rêve (49th ) and  Querlybet Hero (55th) ; for dressage, Sandréo (28th) presentedby the Haras du Feuillard and Romanov (81st ) by The Stallion Company.


Stallions who’ve jumped at the Olympic Games or World Cups will be with us. To name just a few, Action Breaker (The Stallion Company), Canturo*Bois Margot, HeraldIII*GFE, Montender*Bois Margot, Mylord Carthago*HNSF (France Etalons), Nippon d’Elle SF (Haras d’Elle – ex-ride of the Olympic medallist, Roger-Yves Bost) and Vagabond dela Pomme (Haras de Clarbec – current ride of the Olympic medallist, Pénélope Leprevost)…

Not forgetting 5*CSI level (International Showjumping)stallions : Cartani and Monte Bellini (Béligneuxle Haras), Jah’s Diamant (Haras du Numénor), Lamm de Fetan SF (Ecurie Meautry), Maloubet de Pléville SF (Gènes Diffusion), Quite Easy (Haras de Brullemail), the list is just too long to be exhaustive. The champions Orient Express*HDC SF (World Show-jumping Vice-champion with the French rider Patrice Delaveau), and Dexter Leam Pondi (Haras de la Bouloye –firstly a team bronze and then a team silver at the European Show-jumping Championships) will be honoured as deserved for their sporting careers.

Among absentees to be noted: Urano de Cartigny SF was entrusted last week to Pénelope Leprevost, Carinjo 9*HDC will participate finally in a CSIO5* with Patrice Delaveau in the United Arab Emirates. Totilas*GFE (triple World champion of training) was finally announced absent by the Groupement France Élevage (GFE).

On Saturday evening, being held for the first time at the stallion show, The “Masters l’Eperon” as well as the customary “Grand Match Destrier” with the opportunity for breeders to win breedings…
