The European Championships promoted in Aachen

As the hosting country for the ECCO FEI European Championships 2013 Danmark has played a particular role as the Partner Country at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2013.

In this connection HRH Crown Princess Mary and HRH Princess Benedikte paid a visit to the event in Aachen.

Through the project ”Experience Denmark” a little Danish village of stands was created in the exhibition area of the Aachen showgrounds which are visited by more than 360,000 spectators and covered by 600 journalists. The European-Herning stand was visited by HRH Crown Princess Mary and HRH Princess Benedikte.

Denmark played a significant role in the official opening ceremony Tuesday night with several features such as the Danish winner of the international Eurovision song contest, Emmelie de Forest, The Royal Danish Household Cavalry and not least HRH Princess Benedikte who held the official opening speech for the event.

– Sport builds bridges between countries and people of all generations, said HRH Princess Benedikte who is the patroness of the ECCO FEI European Championships in Herning.

Managing director of European-Herning ApS, Jens Trabjerg, is very positive about the participation in Aachen. The goal of having a stand in Aachen was to market the European Championships, and the stand was well-attended throughout the event in Aachen. It was the focal point for all practical information and framed crucial meetings with officials etc. An efficient synergy has taken place between the ticket sale at the stand and the stand of VisitDenmark, where holiday houses in the Herning area were promoted.

– The European Championships creates good opportunities for new business relations and attracts tourists to Denmark, as well as contributes to branding Denmark as a sport and tourist destination. We are proud of this, says Jens Trabjerg.

He is very pleased that HRH Crown Princess Mary, HRH Princess Benedikte as well as the Danish trade minister, Annette Vilhelmsen, participated in the official opening of the Danish village as well as the official opening of the entire show.

– We highly appreciate that HRH Princess Benedikte in her capacity as patroness of the ECCO FEI European Championships has come to Aachen and happily taken part in several Danish events.
