«Reminder» highest priced horse, sold to the Netherlands (VIDEO)

The result was quite remarkable: The Verden Auction in July finished with an average auction sales price of Euro 14,195 for the 82 riding horses put up for auction.

The impressive Reminder achieved the highest price, sold at Euro 43,000 to the Netherlands. The most expensive foal will leave Germany as well. Euro 42,000 was the price achieved for Dollar Girl who will travel to Denmark.

The Romanov Blue Hors/Longchamp-son Reminder (breeder: Francois Schneiders, St. Vith/Belgium – exhibitor: Scott Zahner, Hinsdale/USA) was already one of the most popular horses during the training period with best prospects for a successful future career at the advanced level. The exhibitor had discovered the dark-brown youngster as foal at the 2010 Foal Auction in the Niedersachsenhalle. Now, five years later, regular customers from the Netherlands invested Euro 43,000, placing their bid by phone. There was also an exciting bidders' duel for the most expensive jumper for which auctioneer Bernd Hickert accepted another bid at the telephone. A show jumping stable from Sweden that had already discovered a number of futurity prospects for the international level in Verden, purchased the Stolzenberg/Hurricane-son Silverado (breeder and exhibitor: Frank Kuhlmann, Diesdorf) at Euro 35,000.

Kenya, Iran, China, Southkorea. Hands hardly went down again. Jubilation on the stands – these are stories written exclusively by auctions. The Verden Auction in July in the well-crowded Niedersachsenhalle was exciting, the atmosphere wonderful. Many new customers travelled to Verden. “The interest in the riding horses was already excellent during the training period. Many customers who had informed themselves via digital media first, were the first time at a Verden auction, and therefore, the lists for test riding horses were correspondingly well-filled,” summarized Auction Manager Jörg-Wilhelm Wegener, and he praised his team.

The new customers from Southkorea revealed a particularly remarkable bidding behaviour. They accepted huge jumps in prices and generously rounded the amount up to Euro 30,000. The two purchased horses will stay in Germany first and trained at the premises of team Olympic Champion and riding master Hubertus Schmidt to be prepared for their dressage career. The export rate was above average, 45 customers from other countries signed purchase notes. Hanoverian friends from the US and Italy were the strongest represented, followed by customers from the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.

Complementing the offer of riding horses in July for the first time by foals proved to be a great idea. “This allows us to offer the customers interesting foals in an age- and development-appropriate manner,” said Auction Manager Jörg-Wilhelm Wegener and was happy about the excellent result. The 50 representatives born in 20015 were sold at averagely Euro 7,002. Gerold Gögele from Bleckede was once again responsible for top price in the foal collection with his De Niro/San Amour-daughter Dollar Girl. The breeder and recognized trainer successfully managed to sell the fifth De Niro-foal in Verden at more than Euro 26,000 within 24 months only. A customer from Denmark invested Euro 42,000 in the typey black foal. By the way: The next De Niro-progeny from the Gögele-breeding site will introduce the 141st Elite Foal and Broodmare Auction on August 15 in Verden when 125 foals with outstanding pedigrees and 11 top-class broodmares will be offered for sale. Verden will provide a complete overall view with a huge and wide range collection of 79 colts and 46 fillies on one day.
