As stated on the Australian website efanational.com, a tragic accident happened in Germany yesterday.
Eduardo Fischer’s beautiful Lusitano stallion Relampago do Retiro, who was one of the most successful horses in Australian dressage, had to be euthanased as a result of an accident whilst travelling home in the float.
Ridden by Hayley Beresford, Reli represented Australia at the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong, placing 18th in the dressage as well being a member of the Dressage team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
Reli was bred by Eduardo Fischer in Brazil, who saw his talent and sent him to Europe for training. Hayley commenced her partnership with Reli in 2006 and the combination developed to Grand Prix, and saw Hayley ride him in her first international competitions where they had many memorable successes.
Hayley’s best mate will be sadly missed but we can take happiness in the fact that he will live on through his children, and in the memories of all his friends and fans.
