The German dressage rider Matthias Alexander Rath, is the new rider of the dressage horse of the century Totilas which claimed victory of all three possible gold medals during the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. In the beginning of October Europe’s largest horse dealer bought the exceptional horse from the Netherlands and brought Totilas to his stud in Mühlen, Germany. With the purchase of Totilas Paul Schockemöhle ensures that the stallion can be established in breeding as well as in dressage.
Paul Schockemöhle took his time in presenting the new rider of Totilas. But according to Schockemöhle there was an immediate harmony between Matthias and Totilas. In the course of the training, the trainer Klaus-Martin Rath and Matthias have focused on the development of the harmony especially in respect to suppleness and satisfaction of the stallion. Paul Schockemöhle is convinced that the common career of the pair will be successful.
In the beginning of their training will be the continued advancement of the two. For the future Matthias-Alexander Rath’s aim is to convince the judges and the audience his own way.
The former Olympian dressage winner and stepmother of Matthias Rath, Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff, is very happy that her son has been selected as Totilas’ new rider. Paul Schockemöhle and Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff have made a special agreement which regulates the rights of the proprietors, the splitting of the earnings and the splitting of the risk.
Both parties have established a kind of ‘proprietor alliance’ and see a realistic chance that the investment of the stallion will be refinanced within the next years through the covering fee, prize money as well as sponsorship money.
