Lauren Hough undergoes surgery after a fall in Stuttgart

Lauren Hough suffered a fall during the first qualifier of the Stuttgart German Masters on Thursday, 17th November.

Her 9-year-old mare Blue Angel got too close to a wall and attempted to jump anyway, crashing through the fence. After Hough fell, the mare stepped on her chest. While Hough was conscious and walked out of the ring with assistance, she then went to the hospital.

Hough underwent emergency surgery for a collapsed lung caused by three broken ribs. She is conscious but will have to stay in the hospital in Germany for several more days.
