Kittel wins WDM Grand Prix with Deja (VIDEO)

The public at the packed stands enjoyed the sunshine and some great performances during the € 10,000 WDM Nürnberger Grand Prix presented by Axel Johnson Group.

Patrik Kittel and his 10-year-old SWB mare Deja (by Silvano x Don Schufro) were last to go. During their test it became clear that they were going to be a real thread to the leader Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and Digby.

Deja’s test was energetic, with great half passes that had much suspension and bending. It is the pair’s first season on Grand Prix level and they are a big promise for the future. WDM Live commentator Eric Lette said “this horse is really dancing”. Kittel was really emotional about winning the WDM Nürnberger GP test with a super score of 75.340%, just beating Nathalie and Digby.

Denmark’s Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and her veteran Digby (by Donnerhall x Sandro), who is partly owned by her mother HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark, performed a correct and nearly faultless test. Technically their performance was very good and the combination clearly is very experienced. Their test scored 75.180%.

Third place went to Holland’s Patrick van der Meer and his 10-year-old KWPN gelding Zippo (by Rousseau x Haarlem). They had a real good test which was rewarded with 73.180%. The combination showed great progress after their performance in the WDM in Mechelen last year.

Sweden’s Jennie Larsson and Holland’s Laurens van Lieren finished equal fourth. Jennie Larsson works for the Lövsta Stud of Antonia Ax: son Johnson since 2000. It is Jennie’s first season in international Grand Prix competitions and she and her horse Zirkoon Spring Flower, a 10-year-old KWPN stallion by Painted Black x Armstrong, show a huge potential. Their exercises were executed in a fluent and light way and had no big mistakes. The pair received 71.480% for their test.

Laurens van Lieren and his 13-year-old KWPN gelding Ulysses la Haya (by Gribaldi x Ulft) performed a good and solid test.
