Germany & the Netherlands claimed the medals in Ermelo

Sanneke Rothenberger (Ger), winner of Saturday’s individual gold medal, added another golden one to her collection by also winning the freestyle to music test on her black gelding Deveraux, scoring 77.650%. Second place and the silver medal was for Junior Brigit van der Drift (Hol)and her ride Twister with 73.950%. The bronze medal was won by Louise Lüttgen (Ger) on Habitus, totaling 73.250%.

For the Young Riders, it was Fabienne Lütkemeier (Ger) riding D’Agostino who won the gold medal with the winning score of 77.750%. Saturday (08/08) was the day of the individual medals during the FEI European Championships Dressage for Juniors and Young Riders. Dutch rider Lotje Schoots succeeded in winning her 10th golden medal in the youth competitions. The German Fabienne Lütkemeier won silver, followed by the second Dutch rider, Marrigje van Baalen who won bronze.

The Dutch member of the jury, Ghislain Fourage resumiu: “There was no discussion whatsoever about the three winners of the individual medals. Lotje Schoots was riding her test in utmost concentration. It looked very harmonious and she certainly mastered her nerves. The German Fabienne Lütkemeier was a very close runner-up. Her trot was excellent overall her performance was just a little bit less secure than that of Lotje. Marrigje van Balen was riding a very controlled and harmonious test and certainly earned her bronze medal.”

The 2009 European Championships Dressage for Juniors and Young Riders were concluded with the prize-giving ceremony and a lap of honor for the gold medal winners, Sanneke Rothenberger and Fabienne Lütkemeier in a carriage drawn by two Frisian horses.

During the five days of the championships,approximately 10.000 visitors came to the show grounds of the Royal Dutch Equestrian Federation, more than 2.500 on the final day.
