European Champion Wins in Hamburg – but not alone

The win in the first large tour competition of the German Jumping and Dressage Derby was shared by two riders: the first is the European Champion Roger Yves Bost from France and the second is the young Irish rider Michael Duffy. The welcome competition was split while there were 136 starters in the Prize of the Gentleman's Fashion Label “emilio adani”.

The European Champion – in short “Bosty” – was in the saddle of a Holsteiner horse with a somewhat complicated name:

Quaoukoura de Ty is under French ownership and is a 10 year old son of the famous stallion Calido. Jörg Kreutzmann from Kasseburg (GER) and Chevignon followed in second place for a “Holstein double”. However it was Michael Duffy who was the fastest. The 17 year old from Knockmore is currently working for his countryman Shane Breen (IRL) in Hickstead (GBR) – so basically where the English equivalent of the Hamburg Derby course stands. The young Irish rider was clear in 51,28 seconds with Westland Ruby.

Many spectators used the “pre-Derby day” as an opportunity to warm-up for the coming four days in Hamburg Klein Flottbek's Derby park.
