Doubleyou W Top in the Division of six-year-old Championship Horses

Another Hanoverian horse dominated the qualifier for the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses.

Following Scara Boa with the five-year olds yesterday, the six-year-old gelding Doubleyou W by Don Romantic – Rohdiamant even surpassed Sa Couer with Eva Möller, the 2012 World Champion. The bay Doubleyou W, bred by Wilhelm Schwierking and owned by Lena Charlotte Walterscheidt, was presented by his trainer Laura Stigler (Düsseldorf) in the crowded Championship arena at the International Dressage and Show Jumping Festival in Verden.

The judges honoured the quality of his basic gaits with scores of 9 and better, he scored 9.4 for overall impression, with only one time 8.8 for submissiveness. The Hanoverian horse already captivated before – last month, Laura Stigler won the qualifier for the Federal Championships in Langenfeld/Rhineland with Doubleyou W. The owner of the sporty bay horse is her 15-year old pupil Lena Walterscheidt. Laura Stigler apprenticed with Rudolf Zeilinger in Emsbüren and had been working in Sweden with top dressage rider Jan Brink for a couple of years. Meanwhile, the rider is running her own training business.

The 2012 World Champion of five-year-old dressage horses, the Oldenburg gelding Sa Coeur, was awaited with anticipation. He was the first horse to compete in the qualifier and set standards with a final score of 9.14.

The Sir Donnerhall – Don Davidoff-offspring qualified for the Final, just like the third-placed Damon’s Delorange by Damon Hill – Rubin Royal. The Westphalian mare and Federal Champion, presented by World Cup winner Helen Langehanenberg, had to settle for third behind Sa Coeur with a mark of 9.12. Place four and five went to horses from the German warmblood breed: Lord Carnaby by Lord Loxley – Rocket Star (9.08) with Beatrice Buchwald (Rheinberg) came in fourth, Carola Koppelmann from Warendorf rode the Mecklenburger Sandiego by Sancisco – Davignon (8.98) to the fifth place. 41 six-year-old horses in total were presented in the Championship arena in Verden.
