British dragons flew and grabbed the Samsung Cup

British dragons flew over all emotions and grabbed the Samsung Super League Nations’ Cup on the brand new sand of the 75th Csio of Rome Piazza di Siena, with a total of 8 faults. This competition was the main focus in the schedule for Friday and the second meeting with the prestigious international Samsung circuit.
Tim Stockdale and Fresh Direct Corlato, Robert Smith on Ronaldo and the Whitakers, John and Michael, aboard Suncal Portofino 63 and Peppermill, left behind Belgium, Germany, France and Switzerland, ex-aequo for the second place with 12 faults.

The course set by chef the piste Uliano Vezzani, was quite mild in the first round (17 clear rounds) but revealed itself very technical in the second go, with only 8 clear round (only six double clear rounds all together).

One of the most severe point in the course was the line between the water-jump and the vertical combination (1.55 mt), with very light elements, and the last jump, placed in the same direction of the exit and against the sun.

The success for the British Team finds its roots in the perfect riding style of John Whitaker and Peppermill, a Kwpn jumper sired by the great stallion Burggraaf. This horse and rider combination performed their Samsung Super League Nations’ Cup with a double clear.
“Peppermill is a very strong horse but he is also very touchy and every now and then this can cause some misunderstandings. Today we found a perfect communication and everything went all right.

He is a good horse for big classes and he can still improve his gaits. Peppermill is a fantastic companion but he can not be related to Milton. No horse can… He was an absolute superstar”, commented John Whitaker.

As far as Italy goes, the national team ended up 6th whit 16 faults, before Netherlands (20), Usa (25) and Sweden (32). Chiara Arrighetti, wearing the Scuola militare di Equitazione uniform, performed a very good round aboard Harpon du Borda and so did Piergiorgio Bucci on Portorico da Zara. These two riders were both newcamers in the Samsung Super League Nations’ Cup at Piazza di Siena.

In the prestigious Samsung Super League Nations’ Cup Ranking 2007, Germany, the winning nation at La Baule, is still at the lead thanks to the second place obtained in Rome (14.75 pt.). Switzerland is right behind with 11.75 points and Great Britain is now thirs with 10.50 points.
