Billy Twomey scores his second victory in Zurich

Billy Twomey racked up his second win in 18 hours at the five-star show in Zurich this morning, with victory in the Rolex-ranked Two Phase competition.

Adding another 23,000 euro to his prize pot at the Swiss World Cup venue, the 33 year-old once again campaigned Sue Davies's mare 'Tinka's Serenade', who had produced a 35,000 euro victory for him yesterday evening, his second Grand Prix win in a fortnight.

Ireland's Denis Lynch took the runner -up spot today in the Two Phase with Thomas Straumann's gelding 'Abbervail van her Dingeshof', netting 15,000 euro, while Australia's Edwina Alexander placed third.

Sunday afternoon sees Zurich's feature class, the Mercedes Classic World Cup Qualifier, and Twomey has signalled that he may field the bay stallion 'Je t'Aime Flamenco' for this competition. He said: “With so many big shows coming up in the months ahead, it needs careful planning so that the horses are kept at peak fitness, and a lot of thought has to be given as to which horse is most suitable on the day for big classes like these at any of the shows.”
