Mexican Bernadette Pujals is scoring big time at the European shows. With her 15 year old Vincent she won the Grand Prix and the Kür to music. Bernadette Pujals had some private problems after the World Games in Aachen but did succeed in saving her horse.
The sympathetic rider is training again with German trainer Jonny Hilberath and plans to go to the Olympics next year.
Along with her a lot of American dressage riders are staying in Europe with her trainer the German Klaus Balkenhol.
They too are training for the Olympics and will be riding some competitions in Europe this season. At the Euroclassics in Bremen (Germany) Debbie McDonald with her 10 year old Felix (sired by Fabriano) turned out best in de Grand Prix (third) and in the Kür to music (fifth).
Also to be found in Bremen were their fellow American riders Heather Blitz, who brought the 9 year old Otto (s. Rambo) over and Kristina Harrison-Naness with her Andalusier Rociero XV, who is 12 years.
Canadian dressage rider Cheryl Meisner has also travelled to Europe to train and to do some shows. She brought two Dutch bred horses over with her. Approved stallion Paganini (sired by Havidoff) is doing Grand Prix and Ferro-son Lucky Strike is doing the Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I.
The Prix St Georges and Intermediate I class were won by Vicky Smit and Daimanira van de Hell. They received 67,417% respectively 69,83% for their wins staying in front of the famous winner of the 6 year old World Championships of 2006, Damon Hill NRW and Ingrid Klimke.
