Aachen named world's best showjumping competition

The CHIO Aachen outdoor show jumping event has won the L'Année Hippique Award for the ninth time.
This year, Aachen prevailed over Calgary for the renowned award of the equestrian almanac, in the vote of the show jumping riders and specialized journalists.

On Saturday, CHIO show director Frank Kemperman received the coveted L'Année Hippique Award 2008 at the international show jumping event in Dutch Maastricht.

“We feel honoured by this award. It reconfirms the intensive work of the whole team,” said Kemperman.

“And also in the future, we will do everything not only to keep the CHIO Aachen's high level, but also to further improve it.”

The L'Année Hippique Awards are awarded in the disciplines of show jumping, dressage, driving and eventing in an annual rotation.

The awards in the CHIO disciplines dressage and driving, which Aachen had both won in 2007, will be awarded in 2009 again. The CHIO Aachen has won its 24th L'Année Hippique Award in 2008.

In 2009, the World Equestrian Festival will be organised from June 26 – July 5th.
