He truly is a “man of good character”: Champion Stallion of the 51st Trakehner Stallion Market, Kissinger by Singolo out of Kontessina by Arogno. A gentleman through and through, he gave the stallion market in Neumünster's Holstenhallen a real “goose-bump” moment. Kissinger originates from the breeding stock of Alexandra Countess of Dohna (Bispingen). The youthful 79 year old is a descendent of the Dohna-Schlobitten dynasty, which is inextricably linked to the Trakehner breed. The Countess of Dohna took the reins and went on a lap of honour with the two-and-a-half-year-old stallion – at walking pace, proudly and carefully observed by Kissinger, who fell into step with his breeder so exactly that it was almost as if he wanted to look after her…
At that moment, the hankies came out for both the lady and the stallion, who wandered together through the Holstenhalle at such a measured, steady pace that is seemed they barely noticed the rapturous applause thundering around them. The applause and tears of emotion were as much for the breeder, who had presented her first Champion Stallion, as for the truly exceptional stallion himself. Kissinger comes from one of the oldest stud books of the Trakehner breed, which was meticulously maintained in Schlobitten, the family of Kordel. “Steadfast temperament, valuable lineage, always consistent in his movement, and exceptionally motivated” said breeding director Lars Gehrmann of the much-celebrated champion stallion. The Countess of Dohna put it rather differently: “He is such an intelligent horse, he is cleverer than me.”
The young stallion was acquired by Hans Kinzler (Heiligenloh) as a foal. His family is acquainted with Countess Dohna. “This stallion is for the Countess, even if it was me that bought him. This is her horse and her moment”, he said as he smiled modestly. They decided together that Kissinger should be given over for rearing to the Heinrich Ramsbrook Stables in Menslage. Philip Klingbeil took on the young candidate and presented a well-bred stallion with exceptional interior equipment.
250,000 for the champion stallion
Just two hours later, Kissinger was bought for 250,000 euros by Joop van Uytert of the Netherlands, and with it he secured the top price of the 51st Trakehner Stallion Market.
