88th CSIO***** Lisbon 2008, 22-25 May

The 88th edition of the Lisbon CSIO will take place from May22-25th 2008. The venue is the oldest competition in the world to take place at the very same location, and for the first time in its history 5 stars have been attributed by the International Equestrian Federation – the maximum rating possible for official competitions!

The Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa´s excellence in organizing top level events has thus been recognized and praised. The 5 star rating also translates into greater prize money amounts and a higher degree of difficulty in the competition.

€180.000 are out for grabs!

This year the Lisbon CSIO***** boasts 2 qualifiers:

The Grand Prix, that will take place on the evening of Friday the 23rd of May and the Nations Cup on Sunday the 25th of May, shall serve as qualifiers for the 2008 summer Oympics and the 2009 European Championships.

The big news this year will be the inauguration of our arena at night. The Grand Prix on Friday night will be a floodlit event. At 9 pm we´ll switch on the lights!

Riders of 12 countries shall be competing and 10 oficial teams will honor us with their presence; Spain, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, U.K., The Netherlands, Ireland, Italy and Portugal. Hong Kong and Japan will be competing individually
