150 Grand Prix horses at Horses & Dreams meets Germany

The numbers speak volumes: Horses & Dreams meets Germany, from 4th to 8th May at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen a.T.W will be a top meeting place for equestrian sport, following on directly from the FEI World Cup Finals in Leipzig: The dressage programme alone has irresistible appeal – 150 Grand Prix horses are expected in the tournament grounds.

The show jumping at Horses & Dreams is putting up strong competition, with world champions, Olympic and series winners. To top it off, one of the best series around is set to kick off in Hagen a.T.W. – the DKB Riders' Tour.

The tour's title holder Denis Lynch (Ireland) won the Grand Prix in Leipzig, but then took his leave in the first World Cup round after a fall. The Irish rider is now even “hungrier”. “The DKB Riders' Tour belongs to the list of series that you simply have to win at least once – especially if you live in Germany,” explains 34 year-old Lynch who, after Thomas Frühmann (Austria) is only the second foreigner to have come top overall in the series (in 2010). And the opening leg of this year's tour will not be easy, in light of the world and European champions who will be putting up some fierce competition in the arena in Hagen a.T.W..

The exquisite dressage programme at Horses & Dreams has its own special magnetism, stemming from the fact that Horses & Dreams meets Germany is “a tournament of riders for riders, and you see this in everything, from the advertising to the sporting conditions,” says World Cup finalist Helen Langehanenberg from Havixbeck. Boasting two Grand Prix, the Grand Prix Special and the freestyle Grand Prix, the small tour with intermediaire and Prix St. George, the Tesch Inkasso Cup, the Piaff Development Award and the German Professional Dressage Championship, Horses & Dreams creates an exceptionally comprehensive selection of high-class events.

Three-time World Championship silver medal winner Laura Bechtolsheimer from Great Britain will be at Horses & Dreams, as well as Nathalie von Sayn-Wittgenstein (Denmark), who claimed second place at the Dressage World Cup Finals in Leipzig. Compatriot Andreas Helgstrand competed in Denmark and won bronze at the 2006 World Championships. From Germany we will be welcoming two of the bronze medal-winning team from the 2010 World Championships, Christoph Koschen (Hagen a.T.W.) and Anabel Balkenhol (Münster), as well as Nadine Capellmann (Würselen), one of the Olympic team champions of 2008.

And so fans of equestrian sport can look forward to a feast in both the arena and stadium, fantastic Grand Prix horses, young whippersnappers in and under the saddle, and the first leg of the DKB Riders' Tour. They can also look forward to a whole host of highlights quite apart from the dressage and show jumping, such as the opening ceremony, the big exhibition, which will be embracing the theme of Germany as guest country, and to the Equestrian Education Forum. Horses & Dreams at Hof Kasselmann rests on strong foundations.
